ATHENA

Stephens Brothers of Stockton, CA

Formerly known as “Tapawinga,” Athena was constructed in 1929. These were the Rolls Royce of motor launches—very elegant watercraft, built by skilled craftsmen with only the very best of materials. She was donated to the Argus Foundation in 2011 by Dan and Joni Carter of Corona Del Mar. With the help of volunteers and donations the Argus Foundation was able to complete the restoration in 2013. She is now kept in mint condition.

Athena is powered by two 160 horsepower gasoline Chrysler Majestic engines. The Majestic is revered to be one of the finest marine engines ever built. The twin engines power Athena along quietly and efficiently, with a cruising speed of about 11 knots and a top speed of about 17.
